The ASAP project is dedicated to advancing the automation of space mission operations by harnessing the power of artificial intelligence. By developing AI-driven algorithms optimized for onboard processors, ASAP aims to enhance the autonomy, efficiency, and adaptability of future space missions. This initiative represents a critical step toward reducing human intervention in mission operations, allowing spacecraft to make intelligent decisions in real-time, even in deep-space environments.
With increasing data from space missions, real-time onboard decision-making is vital. On 7th October, ASAP organized the Smart Orbits workshop, bringing together experts to examine advances and challenges in autonomous spacecraft systems.
In February 2025, we hosted the AI for Space Applications Workshop, where experts explored how AI can boost spacecraft autonomy and tackle key challenges. The event was a great success, inspiring new collaborations.
